Imagine Dragons had the opportunity to ring in 2016 with 4,000 of their closest fans, and they did NOT disappoint. After opener MS MR warmed up the crowd, Imagine Dragons hit the stage with their hit, “Shots,” showcasing the band in front of an amazing light show.
After ripping through a few tracks from their hit records, Smoke + Mirrors and Night Visions, lead singer Dan Reynolds performed a solo vocal of “Forever Young,” which was backed up by the sold out house. This was later followed by Wayne Sermon performing a guitar solo version of “Auld Lang Syne.”
The band seem very humbled by their success, and often took time out during the show to thank their fans and show appreciation for the love from their fans.
Reynolds addressed the crowd minutes before the New Year with a heartfelt message discussing “the present moment” to celebrate music and life with a positive outlook on the future and not to dwell in the past… “I believe in the future…I believe in tomorrow …I believe in right now.”
Just before midnight, they kicked into the highly popular “I Bet My Life,” which was a perfect track to lead us up to the new year. After throwing a live feed of New York’s Time Square up on the screens, they performed “Radioactive” at the stroke of midnight after the whole house counted down from 30 seconds to ring in the New Year before using their light show to simulate confetti coming from the ceiling. All that was missing was actual confetti.
Ending the night off with “The Fall,” the band left the crowd wanting more and quite frankly, exhausted from the high-energy set.
Though we were unable to get great pictures of the event, we’re lucky enough to share some shots from Bill Shettle of Blue Chip Photography who shot for Foxwoods Resort Casino.
