Gonna Be Damned by The Defeated County.
We are happy to premiere the new video from St. Louis-based indie Americana band The Defeated County called “Gonna Be Damned,” the second single from their newest release, Bar Tabs and Baby Names.
The new video was created and animated by Matt Basler. The song and the video were created to portray the deep unrest in struggling to fit into the “straight” world while trying to keep a creative passion alive. Are the things we give up worth the things we sacrifice in the end? Are the sacrifices we make really a choice or something we are forced into either BY our art or by the responsibility of life? The video was first screened Dec 2nd, 2016 in St. Louis, MO at 88.1 KHDX’s The Stage, and premieres nationally via Indie Minded today!
Fronted by noted song-writer Langen Neubacher, the band features an usual mix of six stringed electric bass, pedal steel, acoustic and electric guitars, as well as textured keyboards and unique female fronted harmonies. Fans of PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, The Decemberists, and The Flaming Lips have all been drawn to The Defeated County due to their ability to blend genres and craft catchy but meaningful songs. With six members all coming from different musical background the group sites a wide range of artists as influences, ranging from folks heroes such as Woody Guthrie and Simon and Garfunkel, to Neko Case, Mirah, and The Replacements.
For Fans Of: The Replacements, Neko Case, Azure Ray, Wilco, and The Flaming Lips.
