Quiet by MILCK
We are thrilled to share with you the brand new track from Los Angeles-based singer, keyboardist, and songwriter MILCK called “Quiet,” which releases ahead of The Women’s March in Washington, D.C. on January 21st.
“Quiet” is a rally cry for men and women to not be afraid of their truth. MILCK told us this about the new track: “With this song, I feel like I’m finally allowing my truest inner self to be expressed. In this time of fear, propaganda and discrimination, it is critical for our individual and collective voices to be heard. With this song I’m saying I am NOT the woman who is going to stay quiet where there are figures who promote oppression. I want to encourage others to give a voice to whatever they may have silenced, political or personal.”
To that end, MILCK has launched a campaign called #ICANTKEEPQUIET. Her goal is to start a million “one woman riots” through song and virtual sharing/storytelling. During the march, she will be leading the #ICANTKEEPCHOIR, an all-female super group comprised of 26 women from Los Angeles and D.C.
“Director Sammi Cohen and I produced this music video together, and we planned it all in 13 days. Right after the election I started hunting for the right concept to fit the song, and when we finally got the concept confirmed, it was nonstop planning and location scouting. It was such an intense goal we set for ourselves, but Sammi’s attitude of calm and confidence was contagious. In my heart of hearts I know this video was meant to be created, and it has that magic in it, as I felt like the universe conspired with us to make it happen. So many obstacles that were out of our hands started melting away. It was like the sea was parting for us to express. I wanted the video to be raw and pure focused on the emotions that spur from being silenced. I know that many people, beyond just women, know that feeling of suffocation that comes with oppression.”
This is a great and powerful track, and MILCK has an amazing voice to go along with it. The video will no doubt have your heart racing with anxiety while you watch to find out how it ends.
