Lady Brain by The Harmaleighs

We have got the new track from Nashville-based indie folk Americana duo The Harmaleighs called “Lady Brain,” an empowering Americana anthem where delicate electric guitars entwine with hypnotic and heavenly vocals before crashing into an unforgettable refrain. And the inspiration for the track is as ridiculous as the title implies.

After receiving comments like ‘wow I didn’t know a girl could play bass’ and ‘you guys are great for girls’, we decided it was time to write a song about the sexism we’ve experienced,” says the band. “‘Lady Brain’ tackles that issue with a sense of sarcasm in the lyrics and a floating pop melody. It wasn’t the easiest song for us to get off our chests, but we feel like it’s the most important one yet.

Look for “Lady Brain” to appear on their upcoming new EP, Hiraeth, dropping on May 5th.

The Harmaleighs are Haley Grant (lead vocals, guitar) and Kaylee Jasperson (bass, harmonies) and the band-mates and parters wrote the Hiraeth EP after an nine-month odyssey where they packed up everything they owned (including their pug Gus) to hit the road. Hiraeth is a Welsh word they stumbled upon while on tour, meaning: ‘Longing for a home,” or “the feeling rootlessness and being homesick.” Sparking a deep understanding within the girls during their roving existence, Hiraeth felt the perfect way to tie together the songs written during this time.

Be sure to check out the duo in a city near you, as they are headed back on the road next month for a tour that will cross the country and run through the summer. A full list of tour dates can be found below.
