A-Z With Everyday SidekicksA-Z With Everyday Sidekicks

“Hope to us is a hugely important factor in life. You constantly have obstacles thrown at you that you need to overcome, times change and sometimes it’s not always good things that come your way. Without Hope for things to get better, life can get on top of you,” say Everyday Sidekicks of the choice behind the title of their recently release EP Hope. The band feel Hope is a huge jump from prior EP The Things I’ve Seen, the release of which led to them sharing the stage with the likes of Marmozets, Slaves (UK) and Coldrain. Thematically the band attempt to avoid becoming ‘a one trick pony’ and so keep things diverse, with Hope spanning topics from heartbreak to the state of the world. Suppleness doesn’t end at the lyrics either – although they can be currently best typified as post-hardcore – the band reveal “We like to think of ourselves as a blend of teeth gritting hardcore mixed with the pop punk roots that we all come from.” Now Hope is available to hear in full, the band give you an even greater insight into who they are, as they take the A-Z interview….”

A Song Which Made You Want To Make Music: “I’m made of wax Larry, what are you made of?” By A Day To Remember

Best Album Ever Written: Lost forever/lost together

Craziest Moment You’ve Experienced In The Band: when we stayed in a venue in Sheffield, the owner was a bit of a psycho and got really hammered and then started trying to attack us and the other bands. I don’t think he owns it anymore though..

Deepest Lyrics One Of Your Songs Features: I found the one I loved and watched her sink her teeth into my skin

Easiest Song You Wrote: Definitely Glass House

Favourite Show You’ve Ever Played: probably our Hope EP release show. It was a great atmosphere and everyone was going hard start to finish

Guest You’d Most Like To Feature On A Your Record: Sam Carter from Architects

Happiest Moment In You’ve Experienced In The Band: probably out first time in a major magazine like Metal Hammer/Rock Sound/Kerrang

Interesting Fact About One Of Your Members: tim eats so fast his body physically regurgitates the food through the day in order to digest it

Jokes You Have In The Band: to this day sam still doesn’t know what the Ethernet cable in our old van was for. We just tell him it’s for the internet..it’s been almost 2 years and he still hasn’t worked it out

Kicking Off Your Set Is Best With Which Song: definitely bury your friends..it goes 0-100 really fast so people react amazingly to it!

Longest Distance You’ve Travelled To Play A Show: over 400 miles..it was killer playing the set after as we were pretty tired

Most Inspiring Musician You’ve Ever Experienced: Tom Searle

New Band You’d Recommend: Definitely Blood youth. They’ve got so many heavy riffs that are just in your face

Opening For This Band Would Be Ideal: Architects. Sharing the stage with those guys would be a dream!

Place You’d Most Like To Tour: America would be incredible. We wanna play warped tour so badly

Quote That You’d Like To Pass On To Readers: “go on josh you’re the strongest”

Reason For The Title Of Your Recent/Forthcoming Release: we believe that hope is important to help you get through life. If it gets you down then Hope for things to get better is the only thing that keeps you going sometimes

See Us Live At: Macmillan Cancer fest -September 2nd, Nottingham and 23rd September  in Bristol plus  Deadbolt fest- 28th Manchester

The Old Days Of Music Were Better Than Those Current, do you agree: yes and no… without older music some of the riffs these days wouldn’t exist. But I think music has become far heavier and live sound has improved so much that modern music sets the standard for live shows

Unusual Merchandise: we don’t have any in stock but I always find people selling women’s underwear and shows really strange..it’s funny but I just couldn’t imagine people buying thongs at a rock show

Variations You’d Like To Do On Any Of Your Songs: id love to do an acoustic version of glass house. We may even be working on one as we speak..

What Bands Have You Seen Live and Regretted: fall out boy. I don’t know if it was the sound or something was going on with the band but it just wasn’t a good show! You could barely hear them playing and they dropped a lot of the classics from the set for the newer stuff

X-rays or any other treatments needed for band related injuries: Nothing yet! But I’m sure with our live shows something will pop up pretty soon haha

You could have written any song in history, which would you pick: Bohemian Rhapsody- Queen

Zoo animal that best describes the personality of your band: A flying squirrel
