Broke by Sophie BomBroke by Sophie Bom

We are thrilled to bring to you the new track from Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Sophie Bom called “Broke,” the first single to be released by her as a solo artist. You may remember the name from her previous band, Sophie & the Bom Boms, as we posted about them here on Indie Minded.

When talking about the track Sophie says, “This song was written stream of consciousness, I hit record and sat at the piano and tried to sort out my life.  Like, Hello, my name is Sophie and I’m a broken ass person trying to make a relationship work with another broken ass person. Relationships are funny. Love can be 2 faced.  When you’re in a relationship, it can make you feel so connected and understood by not just the other person but to everything and everyone, everywhere… and then on the flip side, it touches on the most painful parts of life and yourself and humans, and you just feel cheated by the whole fucking world. This song is just about that broken side. Like maybe there’s a wall that you’ll never grow tall enough to climb over. 2 broken people not knowing how to fix something. like, I love you, but I’m tired…and paranoid… are you even there? are we gonna fix this? Kiki? Do you love me? Are you riding?”

Don’t sleep on Sophie Bom, she has written tracks for artists such as Britney Spears, Kesha, and Conor Maynard. Finally stepping away from behind that curtain, Sophie is back with more music of her own. Slow and steady, “Broke” will pull you in with the first listen, and ends with a deep Prince feel.

Keep the new music coming, Sophie, we’re glad you’re back.
