Bristol, UK-based indie band The Desert have released their new single, ‘Gone,’ which will appear on their upcoming EP, slated to be released sometime in early 2019.

Speaking about the new track, the band said, “’Gone’ is about losing something or someone abruptly and how that can make you go a bit crazy. Gina’s voice is quite hoarse in the recording, which helps convey the desperation& frustration. There’s also a kind of excitement in that ‘fuck it’ feeling. The track is overall more positive than negative with each chorus ending ‘but I’ll find somewhere to put it.’”

The Desert sound a little like Little Dragons meets Portishead, with ‘Gone’ being smooth, dream-pop track that pulls you right in with the first verse.

The Desert started as a collaboration between lead singer & songwriter Gina Leonard and producer, guitarist Tom Fryer. The pair first worked together when Tom producer some of Gina’s solo work. The two soon hit upon a formula of Tom taking the songs that Gina had written with an acoustic guitar and adding layers of electronics and lush, detailed production.

Give ‘Gone’ a listen, and be sure to keep an eye out for the new release later this year!
